Introduction

My academic journey has been profoundly shaped by my international study experiences in London and Dublin. These immersive programs allowed me to engage directly with complex global security and conflict resolution topics, expanding my analytical skills and deepening my understanding of cross-cultural dynamics. The National and Homeland Security program in London provided an in-depth comparison of U.S. and U.K. security strategies, while the Cross-Cultural Conflict and Dispute Resolution program in Dublin explored peacebuilding efforts and the impact of historical conflicts. These experiences have been instrumental in shaping my perspective on national security, global conflict, and the psychological factors that influence decision-making in high-stakes environments.

Reflection

These study abroad experiences have been pivotal in refining my academic and professional aspirations. In London, I solidified my interest in the intersection of national security and psychology, particularly in understanding how high-pressure environments affect decision-making and stress responses. In Dublin, I enhanced my ability to analyze conflict dynamics and gained practical negotiation experience applicable to forensic psychology and mediation. These programs not only broadened my global perspective but also reinforced my commitment to contributing to fields that address security, conflict, and psychological resilience. Moving forward, I plan to integrate these insights into my research and future career in clinical and forensic psychology, where understanding human behavior in high-stakes scenarios is crucial.
